Sarawak has an inordinate number of people between the states in Malaysia, which is a total of 2.07 million people. As the state capital, Kuching is home to 458.300 people. This causes it to be the city with the highest population in Sarawak and got the seventh position in Malaysia.

Sarawak has 27 major ethnic groups, have so far produced. All ethnic groups have the language, culture and way of life of its own. Ethnic groups in Sarawak is divided by regions such as coastal settlements, river valleys, rural areas, and the highlands. The area is the most densely populated in the coastal plains, river valleys in the west of Kuching, and the area between the Kayan River in Mukah River.

Settlement patterns and sparsely populated in Sarawak caused them not much in relation to outsiders. This prompted all ethnic groups form their own cultural identity according to its environment.
